Breakfast With Tiffany
You’ll feel like you are in Europe without the time and expense of travel when you join us for “Breakfast with Tiffany.”  Enjoy a continental breakfast and explore the history of the stained glass windows in historic Caldwell Hall (1890) with in a slide lecture with art historian Ann Davidson.  Lynne Ulett-Wenk of Alton Stained Glass Works will demonstrate the skills required to make amazing walls of light.  You can try your hand at glass cutting before our behind-the-scenes tour culminating in a visit to the majestic oak-beamed Reading Room to view the "Praise Angel" window attributed to Louis Comfort Tiffany.

Stretch your legs and your mind on this entertaining guided walking tour of the stunning Lewis and Clark campus in Godfrey. Learn how the president and his team are achieving their vision of enhancing the campus while preserving the beauty of the original limestone buildings and copper patina accents. Explore the lily pond, fountains, and gardens designed to inspire students and be environmentally friendly. Listen to the stories behind the monumental bronze sculptures by world-renowned artist Richard Hunt in Crossroads Plaza, Ruth Duckworth's Survivor, Shaw's Garden East Garden and Sculpture Park, Fountain Court, River of Colors Garden, and Sacagawea by Glenna Goodacre. Light refreshments will be served.

Basic Home Repair I
Are you challenged by home repairs? This course will give you the knowledge and confidence to safely perform basic "handyman" chores such as small electrical (i.e., switches, outlets, fixtures), plumbing (i.e., leaky faucets, toilet float valves, gaskets), and mechanical repairs (i.e., maintenance and cleaning of refrigerators, furnaces, and air conditioners). DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
 
Basic Photography
Besides discussing the basic operations of a 35mm camera (film or digital), this course will explain in detail the basics of photography including composition, exposure, lighting, depth-of-field, and darkroom techniques. In just 8 weeks, Charles Mayden, owner of Piasa Photo in Alton, will help you learn how to take pictures by using various apertures, shutter speeds, and lenses. You will also learn how various films and filters work and how the flash can be used to create different photographic images. Understand what makes a good photograph, become familiar with the basic operations of 35mm cameras (film or digital), and walk away with the knowledge to generate quality photographs. Bring your camera, if you have one, to the first class!
