 BUSINESS DEPARTMENTI

Thirty & Out Program

A.A.S. Degree in Accounting

Thirty & Out Program

Anyone who has already earned an associate’s or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university may earn an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Accounting by completing approximately 30 semester hours of approved business courses in the Thirty & Out Program.  Students must meet all institutional requirements for the Associate in Applied Science Degree.  The online Thirty & Out Program Application is to be completed by students who wish to be considered for admission into the program.  You may have been instructed to complete the application by a program coordinator or by an adviser.

30 & Out Application

There are two options for submission of the application.  The first is to open the online application by clicking on the link provided above, enter the requested information, and submitting it online directly to the coordinator using the Submit by Email button in the upper right corner of the form and following the instructions provided.  The second option is to use the Save As command, and save the completed file on your computer’s drive taking note of where it is being stored.  Then, simply send an e-mail to bdipaolo@lc.edu after including the resulting file as an attachment.

If you have not contacted the Business Programs Coordinator, Bob DiPaolo at bdipaolo@lc.edu or 618-468-4533, to discuss a customized schedule of classes, please do so as soon as possible.  It is normally a requirement of the program to do so before you begin your program studies.  You can also contact the Business Division office at 618-468-4501.

Typical Program Requirements

All students will be expected to complete at least thirty credit hours of specified courses in the Thirty & Out Program in Accounting.  Although the requirements for each student must be customized based on previous completed studies and related work experience, the following is a list of typical requirements for completion of the program. Computer literacy and statistics are prerequisites of the program.

Program Prerequisite Courses

CIS 135 (3) - Computer Literacy or equivalent

MATH 145 (4) - General Education Statistics or equivalent

Since some courses also have prerequisites, there is a need to insure that an acceptable math course (MATH 131, 134 or 137) or an equivalent has been successfully completed as well.  Course prerequisites may also have an impact on the order in which some classes are taken.

Required 30 & Out Program Courses

ACCT 131 (3) - Financial Accounting

ACCT 132 (3) - Managerial Accounting

ACCT 233 (3) - Cost Accounting

ACCT 234 (3) - Tax Accounting

If prerequisites are met and a student has taken one or more of the list of typical courses for the program as shown below, each course previously taken will be substituted with an appropriate business-related alternative.  However, if any program prerequisites are not been met, and a student has taken one or more of the typical courses, then first preference for substitutions for courses taken will be the program prerequisites.  It should be noted that, in addition to the Thirty & Out Program prerequisites, all course prerequisites must be met, and both may lead to a situation where more than thirty hours are needed to complete the program.
